In today’s digital landscape, building scalable web applications is crucial for businesses aiming to enhance user experience and accommodate growth. Microsoft developers, especially those proficient in ASP.NET, play a vital role in creating robust applications that can efficiently manage increasing user demands. This article explores how Microsoft developers contribute to building scalable web applications using ASP.NET, the benefits of hiring these developers, and the importance of scalability in web development.

Understanding ASP.NET and Its Significance

ASP.NET is a popular web development framework created by Microsoft that enables developers to build dynamic web applications and services. It offers a variety of tools and libraries that facilitate rapid application development, making it easier to create scalable, high-performance applications. Microsoft developers who specialize in ASP.NET leverage its features to deliver powerful solutions tailored to business needs.

Key Features of ASP.NET

- Modularity: ASP.NET promotes a modular approach, allowing developers to use only the necessary components. This modularity aids in maintaining performance as applications grow.

- Cross-Platform Compatibility: With ASP.NET Core, applications can run on various platforms, including Windows, macOS, and Linux, making it versatile for different environments.

- Built-In Security: ASP.NET offers comprehensive security features, including authentication and authorization, helping protect applications from common vulnerabilities.

How Microsoft Developers Build Scalable Applications

1. Leveraging MVC Architecture

Microsoft developers utilize the Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture inherent in ASP.NET to separate application concerns effectively. This separation enhances maintainability and allows for better scalability. By organizing code into three components—models, views, and controllers—developers can work on different parts of the application simultaneously, making it easier to manage large-scale projects.

2. Implementing RESTful APIs

Microsoft developers often design RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Web API, which allows applications to communicate over HTTP. This approach enables the development of scalable web services that can handle multiple requests simultaneously. By creating APIs, developers ensure that applications can interact seamlessly with various client-side technologies, including mobile applications and third-party services.

3. Utilizing Entity Framework for Data Access

Entity Framework (EF) is an Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) framework that simplifies data access in ASP.NET applications. Microsoft developers use EF to create scalable data models that can easily interact with databases. With features like lazy loading and query optimization, EF enhances performance and reduces the overhead associated with database interactions.

4. Caching Strategies

Caching is essential for improving application performance and scalability. Microsoft developers implement caching strategies in ASP.NET to store frequently accessed data, reducing the need for repeated database calls. Techniques such as in-memory caching and distributed caching help applications respond quickly to user requests, ensuring a smooth experience even during peak loads.

5. Asynchronous Programming

Asynchronous programming is a core feature of ASP.NET that allows developers to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without blocking the main thread. Microsoft developers leverage async and await keywords to write non-blocking code, enabling applications to manage numerous user requests efficiently. This capability is particularly crucial for web applications with high traffic, as it improves responsiveness and scalability.

6. Load Balancing and Distributed Systems

To accommodate growing user demands, Microsoft developers often implement load balancing and distributed systems. By distributing incoming traffic across multiple servers, they ensure that no single server becomes overwhelmed. This architecture enhances application reliability and scalability, allowing businesses to scale their operations seamlessly.

Microsoft: Opt-in to receive automatic .NET Core in the upcoming update

Every year Microsoft, Apple, and Android used to create a high buzz in the market by offering their advanced or updated version in the market. By providing the modern version, these tech companies engage their users and deliver a next-level user experience to their customers.

Soon Microsoft customers will experience the advanced opt-in to get updates in the upcoming Microsoft update. According to the Tech crunch report," Microsoft's business customers will soon be able to opt-in to receive .NET Core runtime updates via the Microsoft update service. The change will allow organizations to manage .NET Framework and .NET Core updates in the same way they do other Microsoft-related products via the company's automated update service."

Previously, developers have to install .NET core separately, and Microsoft also explained that it was due to some internal issues. But now entities can update .NET Framework changes side by side as compared to the previous versions. It could also help to break the applications.

"Prior to .NET Core 3.0, each update for .NET Core installed side-by-side with previous updates. This resulted in computers having many versions of .NET Core updates installed even though only the latest one was being used…but these computers still incurred the disk footprint due to multiple installations," explained Jamshed Damkewala, principal engineering manager of Microsoft .NET.

Going forward, .NET Core applications will run on the latest servicing update by default, Microsoft said. "That means your .NET Core applications will run on the latest servicing version of .NET Core 3.1, for example, after it has been installed on your machine by Microsoft Update," added Damwala.

Apart from this, Microsoft also states that by updating the previous version to the latest one, organizations will manage .NET Framework and .NET Core updates in a similar way. If they don't want to update, they can continue using one of the existing options. In order to leverage all the functionalities of the Microsoft-related services, partner with Microsoft development company.

Furthermore, the company also states that .NET core is an independent product; it is not like the .NET framework. It is a vital component of Windows OS. Undoubtedly, it is a reserved update to OS. The Microsoft update supports the other products that involve .NET Core and Visual studio, and so on. Furthermore, the updates on .NET Core will always be different from the .NET Framework. So, It will always be available on Microsoft Update and will not support the Windows Update.

This is the latest update from Microsoft, but it is essential to know for all the developers and its users.

Microsoft Blazor Web Framework for Dot Net

ASP.Net is the most trending and widely used technology. It is a developer platform made up of tools, programming languages, and libraries for building many different types of applications. Recently, Microsoft announced a new web framework Blazor, which offers several more opportunities for the ASP.net developers to build ASP.net solutions.

In this blog, let’s know more about the latest launched Microsoft ASP.net framework known as Blazor.

Microsoft Blazor Framework

According to Wikipedia, Blazor is a free and open-source web framework that enables developers to create web apps using C# and HTML. It is developed by Microsoft.

It is expected that in the future,  this new framework will turn as the most preferred choice of the developers. However, the Blazor ASP.Net framework is based on a Single Page Application (SPA).  It offers to build a client web UI framework based on .NET. This framework supports all Operating systems Linux, macOS, and  Window.

The design of the  Blazor framework has been inspired by JavaScript frameworks including Angular and React. With Blazor frameworks, developers can build web apps by using c# and HTML languages. It offers several features that involve support for server streaming.

This framework allows ASP.net developers to connect web applications directly with GRPC services by eliminating the HTTP server as a Proxy.

How does Blazor come from?

It is expected that Microsoft will provide experimental support with the Blazor web development framework to develop native mobile applications. This framework was introduced in 2017 only, at the time of the experiment

in hosting the .NET runtime. The name has been driven from Razor, which is similar to the syntax used in ASP.NET, However it helps ASP.NET developers to combine HTML with C# code. In the same way, Blazor allowed that C# code to execute in the browser instead of on the server.

In 2018, Microsoft observes more to its functionality and turned it as an official part of  ASP.NET Core. Eventually, the functionalities of the Blazor were also extended and it introduced and integrated to the Blazor server, It helps to run code on the server and enables us to communicate with the UI in the browser with real-time messaging.

Later, Microsoft examines it more and finds it an appropriate frameowrk which has an ability to meet with the modern development process. Recently Microsoft announced it as an open-source web framework for ASP.NET developers, and they have further plans for this framework.

Future Plans for Blazor by Microsoft

According to the Sources

  • Blazor Hybrid is an experiment in hosting Razor components inside Electron, to create desktop applications.
  • A project to create desktop Blazor or .NET Core applications using WebWindow, which avoids having to bundle any browser components by using what is native to the operating system (Chromium-Edge on Windows, WebKit on Mac, WebKitGTK+ 2 on Linux).

Further Added

Microsoft's Eilon Lipton, principal software engineer, explains that Mobile Blazor Bindings "enable developers to build native mobile apps using C# and .NET for iOS and Android using familiar web programming patterns." The actual UI components are based on Xamarin Forms, but instead of using the Xamarin flavour of XAML to define the UI, it uses Razor syntax.

Conclusion

Microsoft Blazor is the future technology for the ASP.NET developers, which is expected to be extended and sort the several challenges of the .Net development.
