Microsoft: Opt-in to receive automatic .NET Core in the upcoming update

Every year Microsoft, Apple, and Android used to create a high buzz in the market by offering their advanced or updated version in the market. By providing the modern version, these tech companies engage their users and deliver a next-level user experience to their customers.

Soon Microsoft customers will experience the advanced opt-in to get updates in the upcoming Microsoft update. According to the Tech crunch report," Microsoft's business customers will soon be able to opt-in to receive .NET Core runtime updates via the Microsoft update service. The change will allow organizations to manage .NET Framework and .NET Core updates in the same way they do other Microsoft-related products via the company's automated update service."

Previously, developers have to install .NET core separately, and Microsoft also explained that it was due to some internal issues. But now entities can update .NET Framework changes side by side as compared to the previous versions. It could also help to break the applications.

"Prior to .NET Core 3.0, each update for .NET Core installed side-by-side with previous updates. This resulted in computers having many versions of .NET Core updates installed even though only the latest one was being used…but these computers still incurred the disk footprint due to multiple installations," explained Jamshed Damkewala, principal engineering manager of Microsoft .NET.

Going forward, .NET Core applications will run on the latest servicing update by default, Microsoft said. "That means your .NET Core applications will run on the latest servicing version of .NET Core 3.1, for example, after it has been installed on your machine by Microsoft Update," added Damwala.

Apart from this, Microsoft also states that by updating the previous version to the latest one, organizations will manage .NET Framework and .NET Core updates in a similar way. If they don't want to update, they can continue using one of the existing options. In order to leverage all the functionalities of the Microsoft-related services, partner with Microsoft development company

Furthermore, the company also states that .NET core is an independent product; it is not like the .NET framework. It is a vital component of Windows OS. Undoubtedly, it is a reserved update to OS. The Microsoft update supports the other products that involve .NET Core and Visual studio, and so on. Furthermore, the updates on .NET Core will always be different from the .NET Framework. So, It will always be available on Microsoft Update and will not support the Windows Update.

This is the latest update from Microsoft, but it is essential to know for all the developers and its users.
